How it works

The regular pattern repeats across the 365 nights of the year. Holiday weeks replace that week's usual pattern, so a summer week with the other parent moves only the nights they would not have had anyway.

Some child-support guidelines use overnights per year to measure parenting time, so it is a useful number to know. This calculator does the arithmetic; it is not legal advice - always check your court order, written agreement and local rules.

In TaskFamily the same schedules drive each child's week: the right chores and reminders at the right home, handoff reminders, swap requests with approval and a shared record.

TaskFamily turns this into a routine: chores and rewards, a savings jar that pays interest, schedules for two homes and a private family chat. Free to start.

Questions parents ask

What is a 2-2-3 schedule?

The child spends two days with one parent, two with the other, then three with the first; the next week it flips. Over two weeks each parent has seven nights, so it is a 50/50 schedule with no long gaps.

How many overnights is every other weekend?

Every other weekend (Friday to Sunday, three nights) gives the second home about 78 overnights a year, roughly 21%, before holidays are added.

Does a 5-2-2-5 schedule give equal time?

Yes. Each parent has the same two weekdays every week and alternates the weekends, which adds up to 50/50 over two weeks.
